2023-24 DISTRICT GRANT ALLEYWAY PROJECT FUNDED!!
The A Town Center in downtown Anderson is a hub for artists and downtown development. Their vision is: "to see downtown Anderson, thrive and become known as a destination for arts, culture, specialty retail shopping, food and dining, festivals, entertainment, and special events." As part of CREATING PLACES, the organization is developing an Anderson Artist Alleyway that will display art and ornamental lighting in the alleyway connecting the Paramount Theatre and Union Building. There will also be 2 gateway arches on both sides of the alley. This is a 10-year project that will have changing artists' displays. Our Rotary project proposes to provide major funding for the artwork in year one and assist in the clean-up of this alley which is often a place for broken bottles, trash, etc.
The requested funds were $3,700 which the Club will match for a total of $7,400. Work has already begun on the project with a projected completion date of October 2023.
